Our History

BOOST Has a Rich, Community-driven History 

Beginning as a small group of community stakeholders, BOOST and its predecessors have evolved into a large community network over the years with the common goal of “boost”ing learning opportunities beyond the school day. 

Our Timeline
  • 2008-2009
    • A group of community stakeholders interested in education gathers to discuss how coordinating afterschool programs could help provide "access to and support for high-quality afterschool services for all children and youth." The group forms the After School Strategic Plan (ASSP) committee.
  • July 2010
    • BOOST is created under Communities in Schools, implementing Greenville County's After School Strategic Plan.
  • March 2013
    • BOOST begins enrolling new programs to participate in the Continuous Program Quality Initiative.
  • July 2013
    • BOOST moves operation from the Communities in Schools to United Way of Greenville.
  • January to June 2014
    • The Strategic Committee completes the 2014-2018 strategic plan for BOOST.
  • January 2016
    • BOOST hosts Greenville County After School Summit: Aligning After School, Growing Graduates (GradNation Summit) held at the Kroc Center.
  • June 2016
    • BOOST gets a new logo and changes its official name to BOOST Greenville.
